Beauty and the Beach Bunny
For some women, the pool is simply a place to relax and catch some rays on their makeup-free, sun-screened faces. For others, a little dip under the desert sun is a huge production – consisting of preparing for a virtual fashion show, with perfectly pedicured feet sliding into a pair of heels, a blazing hot bikini and hair curled and undone to get that beachy look. To turn heads at the pool, nothing is more fashionable than wearing a swimsuit by Beach Bunny Swimwear, the Newport Beach, Calif.-based company that boasts a massive Las Vegas following.
Tina Knowles
The phrase “like mother like daughter” holds especially true in the Knowles family. Blessed with great genes, matriarch Tina Knowles has passed her beauty, brains, and flair for fashion on to her two famous daughters, Beyoncé and Solange.
Closet Confidential
If it’s March, this must be the fashion issue. And, while it’s fun seeing what’s new at the stores, it’s even more fun to snoop inside people’s closets.
There is no more personal space that your closet. If something has any meaning at all, it’s stored, displayed or hidden inside this very private place. And, just like every picture tells a story, each closet is an encyclopedia of someone’s life.
We truly appreciate our three participants this month, who allowed a couple of strangers to poke, pry and touch, all the while interrogating, so that our readers will have insight into their world.
Let’s sneak a peek inside…
Glamorous Life
Anna Nateece is not easily intimated. In fact, some of the fur cape creations the petite, Grecian designer has so intricately sewn from scratch stack up to nearly twice her own weight and size. So when one of the great musical icons of the ’60s strolled into her boutique with his entourage one day, Nateece simply did what she does best: she dressed him, and demonstrated her eye for style. By the end of the evening, Nateece and Lee Liberace, the famously flamboyant pianist, had become friends. He commissioned a handful of pieces from her, valued at a large sum of money. She was just 25.
It’s in the Bag!
During a tour of a local Goodwill Center, Nevada First Lady Dawn Gibbons experienced an aha! moment. The proverbial light bulb went off when the First Lady found herself in “the cage”, a special area in Goodwill’s distribution warehouse where high-end designer merchandise is housed. “Cage” treasures could include anything from pristine Christian Dior heels and vintage Gucci bags to never-been-worn Chanel sunglasses and Versace jeans.
