LOEWS LAKE LAS VEGAS HOSTS 3RD ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
On Thursday, September 9 Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort will host its 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament. The proceeds from this event at The Golf Club at SouthShore will benefit www.DonorsChoose.org. Donors Choose is an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need. The activities will begin with an 18-hole, 4-person scramble golf tournament, followed by awards BBQ and silent auction. The event takes place at noon and entry into the tournament is $150 per golfer or $650 per foursome, and is limited to the first 144 entrants. Each entry includes green and cart fees, lunch, dinner and gifts provided by Titleist as well as vacation giveaways from our other Loews Hotel properties. A variety of sponsorship opportunities are also available ranging from hole sponsors and auction donors to the title sponsor. ATOMIC #7 HOSTS A FUNDRAISER FOR SHELTER PET RESCUE NETWORK
Atomic #7 patrons and animal lovers interested in a charitable excuse to eat ice cream and great vegan food can enjoy their own custom creation while raising money for a great cause on September 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. By purchasing a ticket to the event, customers will receive Atomic #7 ice cream, vegan dishes and a dessert demonstration by Las Vegas’ vegan Chef Mayra, a raffle ticket and the chance to benefit abandoned pets throughout the valley. Atomic #7 will also be accepting dog toy donations throughout the day. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Shelter Pet Rescue Network. NEVADA CHILDHOOD CANCER FOUNDATION’S 5TH ANNUAL BONE MARROW REGISTRY DRIVE
Join the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation and the National Bone Marrow Registry and help us to save the lives of children in Southern Nevada needing a bone marrow transplant to live. Registering is easy – complete a brief medical questionnaire and swab your mouth with a cotton swab. The “I Have a Dream” Foundation Las Vegas is hosting its14th Annual Ball at Mandalay Bay Resort to celebrate the dreamers and community heroes as this group of students prepares to graduate. Whole Foods Market Henderson (in The District) will hold a free bicycle rodeo on September 11th from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. In partnership with the Clark County School District School-Community Partnership Program and Safe Routes to School, stations will include bicycle inspections by REI and helmet fittings by The Bike Shop. MEADOWS SCHOOL TEXAS HOLD ‘EM POKER TOURNEY
It’s all in for the Meadows with a no limit, Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament today in the Caesars Palace Poker Room. Tournament play begins at 1 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m. with a poker tutorial at noon, a seat at the poker table and lunch. SNCF HOLDS 2ND ANNUAL BBQ BATTLE
Southern Nevada Children First (SNCF) is hosting its 2nd Annual BBQ Battle on September 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Nevada Partners Culinary Training Academy. The 2nd Annual BBQ Battle will feature a high energy competition with some of the best barbeque restaurants and chefs in the Las Vegas Valley. The competition will be judged by celebrities such as Chef Sterling Burpee as well as Chef Jeff Henderson. All proceeds will benefit SNCF, a local 501 c 3 non profit organization that assists homeless, pregnant and parenting teens and young adults, ages 16-22.

ETHEL M TO HOST ART WALK IN BOTANICAL CACTUS GARDEN TO BENEFIT OPPORTUNITY VILLAGE
On Saturday, September 18 from 12 – 6 p.m., Ethel M will host its inaugural Art Walk to benefit Opportunity Village. The event is free and open to the public. At Art Walk, guests are invited to stroll through the scenic three-acre Ethel M Botanical Cactus Garden and view original artwork created by clients of Opportunity Village. All pieces on display will be available for purchase with proceeds benefitting Opportunity Village. Ethel M’s own chocolatier, Chef Jin Caldwell, will host chocolate art demonstrations every hour, on the hour, throughout the event. Also on hand will be the famous Slidin’ Thru Slider Truck along with face painters, balloon artists and an interactive art station. Ethel M is located at 2 Cactus Drive in Henderson.

LAS VEGAS’ 38th ANNUAL GREEK FOOD FESTIVAL
Las Vegas’ 38th Annual Greek Food Festival is being held Friday, September 24th from 3 to 11 p.m., Saturday, September 25th from 3 to 11p.m., and Sunday, September 26th from noon to 10 p.m. on the grounds of St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 S. El Camino Rd., at the corner of Jones and Hacienda. The festival is three days of continuous Greek dancing to two live Greek bands, fabulous cuisine, shops with art, clothing, jewelry and Children’s Entertainment Area. The Education Hero Award Dinner, presented by The Public Education Foundation, is set for 6 p.m. on September 25 at Mandarin Oriental Hotel. FOUR SEASONS LAS VEGAS MAKES STRIDES IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER
Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas, in conjunction with the Las Vegas Running Company, is honored to announce its 11th Annual Season 4 a Cure Cancer Run (formerly the Halloween Run for Cancer Research) to be held Sunday, October 3 at the Summerlin campus of the Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI). Sponsors include KSNV-TV Ch. 3, MIX 94.1 FM and the Las Vegas Review-Journal. All proceeds will benefit NVCI. Featuring a televised kick-off by KSNV-TV News 3 anchor Sue Manteris, this family-friendly event will include a 5K Run & Fun Walk as well as a 100-yard children’s dash, various children’s activities and a breakfast buffet featuring tantalizing items prepared by Four Seasons’ chefs. Members of the group Victorious, who are featured in a gospel brunch at the Clarion Hotel & Suites, will perform at the event. VEGAS PBS HOLDS INAUGURAL KEEPING KIDS FIT 5K RUN AND 1 MILE FUN WALK
Vegas PBS hosts the inaugural 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk benefiting the organization’s Keeping Kids Fit program which targets childhood obesity on Saturday, October 9 starting at 8 a.m. Keeping Kids Fit (KKF) is a childhood obesity initiative modeled after the successful Vegas PBS Ready To Learn community outreach program. KKF targets families with children, ages 2 to 12, by providing exercise and nutrition resources to promote a lifetime of healthy habits. 3rd ANNUAL GOLF FORE! KIDS
Horizon Center for Children & Families, CDC will be hosting its 3rd Annual Golf fore! Kids at Boulder Creek Golf Course. DESSERT BEFORE DINNER SUPPORTS GIRL SCOUTS OF SOUTHERN NEVADA LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS

On Saturday, October 9 at 6 p.m. Las Vegas’ finest pastry chefs will be featured in a baking competition using the popular Girl Scout Cookie Peanut Butter Patties at the South Point Hotel and Casino. In an interactive pre-dinner setting, guests sample each of the chef’s unique dessert creations and vote one chef to be named “Grand Cookie Master.” Dessert Before Dinner will honor Assemblywoman Marilyn Kirkpatrick with the Juliette Low Pearl Award for her more than 20-year dedication to girls in Southern Nevada. THE BIX MIX, the premier annual fundraising event to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada is set for October 14 from 6 –11 p.m. at XS Nightclub inside Encore. THE JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE SHRINERS HOSPITALS FOR CHILDREN OPEN PRESENTS THE CHARLEY HOFFMAN FOUNDATION PRO-AM
The Charley Hoffman Foundation Pro-Am is set for Monday, October 18. The event will be played at TPC Summerlin, the host course of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, an Official PGA TOUR Event. Hoffman and his wife Stacy created the Foundation in 2009 to raise awareness and financial support for a variety of children’s charities in their native San Diego as well as their adopted hometown of Las Vegas. This will be Hoffman’s First Pro-Am event in Las Vegas and will benefit the following Las Vegas charities: Blessings in a Backpack, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Goodie Two Shoes Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Las Vegas, as well as the Transportation Fund of the local Zelzah Shrine Temple. Participants of the Pro-Am will enjoy the unique opportunity to play a round of golf inside the ropes of an official PGA TOUR tournament course alongside a professional PGA TOUR player. The modified shamble will start at 1 p.m. Concluding play, participating amateurs and professionals will honor winners at a reception on The Hill, the tournament’s entertainment pavilion, overlooking the 18th hole of TPC Summerlin. The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open (JTSHCO), an Official PGA TOUR Event, announced MGM Resorts International as its title sponsor for the 2010 Championship Pro-Am to be held Wednesday, Oct. 20 at TPC Summerlin. In previous years, the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open has welcomed the talent of Oscar De La Hoya, Josh Duhamel, Kenny G., George Lopez, Alice Cooper and tournament host, Justin Timberlake, among others, to play in its Championship Pro-Am. THE 2ND ANNUAL GREAT PUMPKIN RUN
Pick out a spooktacular costume, strap on your running shoes and head on over to Easter Seals Southern Nevada’s 2nd Annual Great Pumpkin Run. The Great Pumpkin Run takes runners, dressed in a variety of costumes, on a 5K jaunt through Woodlawn Cemetery at 1500 North Las Vegas Blvd. to a spooky Halloween after-party complete with free food, drinks and entertainment. A 1-mile walk is also an option for those interested. Early registration is $35 for the 5K and $25 for the 1-mile walk. Registration fees will increase after October 17 to $40 and $30 respectively and again after October 24 to $45 and $35 respectively. Registration is available through Active.com. GOLDEN RAINBOW’S 44th ANNUAL BEAUX ARTS BALL
Las Vegas-based HIV/AIDS non-profit organization Golden Rainbow is holding its 44th Annual Beaux Arts Ball at legendary nightclub Studio 54 inside MGM Grand on Sunday, Oct. 31. Known as the biggest Halloween costume party of the year, this year’s event concludes Studio 54’s legendary “Nightmare on 54th Street” Halloween festivities. Beaux Arts Ball features live performances by cast members of local production shows, dancing, contests and the most outrageous costumes seen anywhere in Las Vegas. Prizes will be awarded for “Sexiest,” “Best Drag” and “Most Original” costumes. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased for $25 in advance or $35 on the day of the event. WOMEN’S CLUB OF SUMMERLIN PRESENTS“EAT, DRINK AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE” 15TH ANNUAL CHARITY EVENT
The Women’s Club of Summerlin, Inc. will hold its 15th annual charity luncheon “Eat, Drink and Make a Difference” on Saturday, November 6 at the J.W. Marriott Resort & Spa in Summerlin. Baby’s Bounty, a local 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, will be the recipient of the Women’s Club of Summerlin fundraising efforts this year. The Mistress and Master of Ceremonies will be Channel 8 News Anchor Paula Francis and Channel 3 Meteorologist Kevin Janison. Attendees will enjoy an afternoon of entertainment by Frank Marino’s Divas Las Vegas and a special appearance by American Storm. Guests will also have an opportunity to choose from a wide array of substantial raffle items, and a silent auction will be held for guests wanting to bid on a select group of high-end items. NEVADA CHAPTER OF JDRF WALKS TO CURE DIABETES
More than 4,000 walkers representing local corporations, families, schools and other organizations are expected to turn out for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), Nevada Chapter’s annual Walk to Cure Diabetes on November 6 at UNLV. The chapter’s goal is to raise more than $600,000 for research to find a cure for diabetes and its complications. UNITED WAY’S WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP COUNCIL HOLDS WOMEN’S FALL SUIT DRIVE
For one day only, United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) will collect gently-used suits and professional attire to be donated to local area shelters and non-profits that assist women in need including Safe Nest, S.A.F.E. House, The Shade Tree and Goodwill of Southern Nevada. Drive-through donations can be made in the United Way Parking Lot at 1660 E. Flamingo Road (between Maryland Pkwy and Spencer) from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
