CIRCLE OF FRIENDS ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN TO BENEFIT THE DOWN SYNDROME ORGANIZATION OF SOUTHERN NEVADA
The 6th Circle of Friends Annual Giving Campaign benefiting the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada (DSOSN) will take place on Saturday, March 13th beginning at 6:30 pm. This event is being hosted by Stan and Susan Wasserkrug (Susan is a DSOSN Board of Director). The event is held as an adult reception serving hors d’ oeuvres, dessert and bar refreshments. This is the Wasserkrug’s second consecutive year to host this event. Last year the theme was Hawaiian and it was such a “tropical blast” that they are repeating the theme again this year. Attendees have the option of dressing up in Hawaiian theme attire to join in the fun. This is the DSOSN annual giving campaign geared toward developing and maintaining friendships and partnerships with individuals and businesses that want to support DSOSN beyond the group’s annual membership drive. Giving Levels begin at $100 and go to $5,000 or more. PETE’S DUELING PIANO BAR HOSTS A “FUN-RAISER” TO BENEFIT AID FOR AIDS OF NEVADALocal hot spot Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar at Town Square is hosting an evening of gaudy entertainment and fun to raise proceeds which will directly benefit Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 25. All proceeds from a $10 cover collected at the door will be donated to AFAN. Join AFAN as they host the 20th Annual AIDS Walk Las Vegas at the World Market Center at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 25. The event serves as AFAN’s largest fundraiser of the year, providing funds for programs to assist and educate more than 3,000 men, women and children infected with HIV and AIDS in southern Nevada. PLINER CELEBRATES 20th ANNIVERSARY WITH MEET N GREET TO BENEFIT PUBLIC EDUCATION FOUNDATION
Footwear and accessories designer Donald J Pliner will be celebrating his 20-year anniverary with an event on Friday, March 26th. The designer will host a designer meet-and-greet, Spring 2010 collection presentation, shopping event and cocktail reception at his Las Vegas Concept Store in the Shops at Caesar’s Forum, where the day’s proceeds will benefit the Public Education Foundation. The shopping event will take place from 1 to 6 p.m., where guests are invited to partake in a memorable retrospective montage featuring a bevy of the brand’s iconic compilation of over 40 collections.

SOUTHERN NEVADA CHILDREN FIRST TO HOST “ARTFULLY SWEET” AT MIX
On March 27 Southern Nevada Children First will be hosting “Artfully Sweet” at Mix at Mandalay Bay. “Artfully Sweet” will include champagne and a wide variety of desserts from some of the best pastry chefs in Las Vegas including Eric Snow, trained by Alain Ducasse, local and international art displays including artwork from Peter Lik, live performances and an exciting live auction promising dates with some of Las Vegas’ finest police officers and hottest firefighters, and a silent auction with a number of fascinating items including artwork, golf packages, show and restaurant tickets and much more. Southern Nevada Children First (SNCF), is a local 501©3 non-profit organization, that provides long-term transitional living and life skills training to homeless pregnant and parenting teens and young adults, ages 16-22. EASTER SEALS SOUTHERN NEVADA’S WALK WITH ME
The second annual Walk With Me event to benefit Easter Seals Southern Nevada will be hosted at W. Wayne Bunker Family Park on April 3. Walk With Me aims to raise disability awareness and change the lives of children and adults living with disabilities in Southern Nevada. Team and individual registration for the 2-mile walk is available at www.walkwithme.org/lasvegas. Participants who raise more than $35 – enough for a child to receive one session of physical therapy – will receive a Walk With Me t-shirt. Each dollar raised directly supports Easter Seals and its mission to help people with disabilities or special needs become self-sufficient through direct services, education and community partnerships. All participants will have the opportunity to meet “Honorary Ambassadors” – individuals who have directly benefited from the support they received through Easter Seals’ programs. Registration and pre-walk festivities starts at 8 a.m., followed by the walk at 9 a.m. Following the walk, Easter Seals presents its Easter Carnival featuring an Easter egg hunt, photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny, activities for the family, music and an awards ceremony. NATIONAL MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY’S SOUTHERN NEVADA CHAPTER PRESENTS THE 2010 WALK MS LAS VEGAS
On April 10, thousands of people will walk countless miles to support Multiple Sclerosis, a chronic progressive nervous disorder without a known cure. To be held at Town Square Las Vegas, this year’s walk will begin at 8 a.m. This year, walkers will once again have an opportunity to fundraise in Southern Nevada for the 400,000 Americans living with this prevailing disease. Last year, 100,000 participants raised $67 million nationwide for the fight against MS. The Walk MS Las Vegas offers an opportunity to join the cause and enjoy a day of outdoor fun and camaraderie building with fellow philanthropists and community supporters alike. AFAN HOSTS 20TH ANNUAL AIDS WALK LAS VEGAS
The 20th Annual AIDS Walk Las Vegas to benefit Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) will be held on Sunday, April 25 at World Market Center. Sign-in for teams and individuals begin at 8:30 a.m., the opening ceremony is at 9 a.m. and the AIDS Walk will start at 10:30 a.m. Aid for AIDS of Nevada has led the AIDS Walk for over 20 years. In April 2009, more than 8,000 people walked, raising over $550,000. More than 250 corporate and community teams raised 70% of the total funds collected. Teams represent some of the leading corporations and organizations in Southern Nevada including Nordstrom, Macy’s, Focus Property Group, M.A.C. Cosmetics, UNLV, Wells Fargo, Penn & Teller and more. The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation invites all adults 21 and over to enjoy a night of laughs, snacks, and raffles while competing against friends and family for the title of “Most Valuable Brain” at the 6th Annual “Over Your Head” Trivia Challenge Night at Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall’s Live Theatre on Saturday, May 1 at 6 p.m. The winner of the trivia challenge will receive a trophy and be crowned 2010’s Most Valuable Brain (MVB). Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) hosts the 2010 Hope Gala…IMAGINE on Friday, May 7 at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. The Gala, which begins at 6 p.m., will feature a cocktail reception, dinner, exceptional silent and live auctions and live entertainment featuring Gala Master of Ceremonies Clint Holmes. The auction includes luxury travel packages, unique sports and entertainment opportunities, jewelry and much more. The evening will honor Renée West, president and COO of Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. The chairman for this year’s gala is Ken Henderson.
