FOODIE ALERT: Las Vegas Restaurant Week Begins Today
Get out your stretchy pants and bib, Las Vegas Restaurant Week 2009, now in its third year, launches today and runs through Sunday, September 6.The week allows diners to enjoy specially priced menus at bargain basement prices at more than 50 restaurants, including many on the Las Vegas Strip. With the price points restaurants are offering, you wouldn’t even be able to dine this well if you stayed home and made it yourself.
A few of the participating restaurants include Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio at The Venetian, FiAMMA at MGM Grand, Aureole Las Vegas and Fleur de Lys at Mandalay Bay and Texas de Brazil at Town Square. Participating restaurants offer special Restaurant Week menus at one of three price points: $50.09, $30.09 or $20.09, with a portion benefiting the Three Square Food Bank, a non-profit organization working to end hunger in Southern Nevada. A list of participating restaurants and menus are posted at www.threesquare.org.
The entire week is a celebration of the culinary mecca that Las Vegas has become. For instance, Smith & Wollensky’s special three-course prix fixe dinner menu at $50.09 has delicious choices for each course with Filet Mignon, Lemon Pepper Chicken, Butcher Cut Prime Rib, and Seasonal Wild Salmon as entrée options. Appetizer selections include Beef Carpaccio, Caesar Salad or Iceberg Wedge. Dessert selections include New York Cheesecake and Coconut Layer Cake.
Charlie Palmer Steak at Four Seasons Las Vegas will be offering a five-course family style menu priced at $50.09. For those who are less inclined to be foodies and more inclined to party, Luxor’s Tacos & Tequila will be hosting a special Human Rooster Fighting’s “Tournament of Chefs” to support Three Square on Wednesday, September 2 . The “Tournament of Chefs” will feature competing chefs dressed in rooster suits, strapping on oversized chicken feet and stomping out balloons tied to the ankles of their competition. The rooster that pops all of their opponent’s balloons first, wins bragging rights until the next match-up. The night’s tournament champion chef will receive the grand prize in the form of a $250 bar tab. Confirmed chefs include recent Top Chef Masters contestant Chef Rick Moonen and Stephen Hopcraft of SEABLUE, who recently won Food Network’s Chefs vs. City. T&T will donate a percentage of the night’s proceeds to the Three Square Food Bank.
Also during Las Vegas Restaurant Week, the chefs of Wynn Las Vegas and Encore will come together in support of local food bank Three Square while celebrating culinary legend Julia Child. To honor the iconic chef, author and television personality, Wynn and Encore chefs have crafted Child-inspired menu which we posted previously (August 18) at: http://luxurylv.com/2009/08/truly-scrumptious/2890.
