Calling all moustached men, Ritas, and 2/22 birthdays — you have plenty to celebrate on National Margarita Day
Now here’s a Monday worth getting out of bed for. It’s national Margarita Day! That’s right tequila lovers, on Monday, February 22nd you can have your pick of places to get your lime and salt on. And it seems that everyone lays claim to having the biggest, the baddest, and the best in the way of margarita madness. So gather up the gang and pub crawl across the Strip for your fix.
N9NE Steakhouse inside Palms Casino Resort invites patrons to celebrate with the Ultimate Margarita. N9NE Steakhouse perfects the traditional margarita by combining the following ingredients – Herradura Seleccion Suprema Tequila, Grand Marnier 150 Anniversary Edition, Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal, pomegranate juice and fresh lime juice. For $69, the Ultimate Margarita is a mouth-watering libation sure to satisfy any thirst.
N9NE Steakhouse is open Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. www.n9nesteakhouse.com
Hussong’s Cantina Las Vegas lays claim to having made the first margarita with the following potentially tequila infused tale (tall or not? we’re not sure). In October 1941, bartender Don Carlos Orozco created the margarita for Margarita Henkel, daughter of the German Ambassador to Mexico. The story is on record in the Ensenada Historical Society and verified by Margarita Henkel herself. The Original Margarita was never blended with crushed ice and neither are the drinks at Hussong’s Cantina in Las Vegas. Drinks are served on the rocks, as a shot or shaken cold and served straight up.
On Monday Hussong’s Cantina will be serving up the famed fresh hand squeezed lime Original Margarita for only $5 from 7 to 10 p.m., and ladies get their first Original Margarita free. Nachos, tacos along with all call beverages and draft beers will be half price to make the fiesta even more of a celebration. Here’s our favorite part: Men wearing sombreros or ponchos or with moustaches (real or glued on) will get a free tequila shooter and complimentary shot glass to take home. Nice!
Hussong’s Cantina is located at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and is open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. seven days a week. For information, 702.553.0123.
And, of course, you can’t conjur up an image of a thirst quenching margarita without Jimmy Buffett coming to mind.
As part of the celebration, Margaritaville at Flamingo Las Vegas is encouraging Facebook fans to participate in a unique contest by submitting their favorite margarita recipes. The best recipes will be determined and selected by the restaurant executive staff and will be served on National Margarita Day. To become a fan on Facebook: www.facebook.com/Margaritaville.
Additionally, throughout the day, each location will also be offering distinctive Margarita specials, in addition to providing any patrons who are celebrating a 2/22 birthday with a $22.20 gift certificate to use during their visit. Individuals that are celebrating a 2/22/1922 birthday will receive complimentary food and beverage throughout the entire day!
Lastly, any guests whose name is Margarita or Rita will receive a complimentary bottle of Margaritaville Margarita Mix, simply by showing identification at the restaurant. www.margaritaville.com.
