About 800 prominent Las Vegans clearly were not worried about ruining their appetites in September when they indulged at the “Dessert Before Dinner” gala at Caesars Palace. Nine of the valley’s top women pastry chefs, hailing from Strip and Downtown casinos, and from UNLV, created decadent pre-dinner desserts out of Girl Scouts Trefoils cookies. Attendees were tasked with tasting all of them, and choosing a favorite, before they sat down for dinner, where some of the valley’s top women role models were honored. NoMad’s Becky Quan was the evening’s culinary winner for her take on a strawberry shortcake Good Humor bar. But the evening’s big winners were the Girl Scouts, which raised $735,000 to continue their work preparing the next generation of female leaders. Photos by Cashman Photo.
