DESSERT BEFORE DINNER GALA

The women leaders of today and tomorrow, along with their supporters, indulged in some pre-meal sweets at the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada’s annual Dessert Before Dinner gala, Sept. 9 at Caesars Palace. The evening began with individual desserts by eight of the valley’s top female pastry chefs, each inspired by the brand new Girl Scout S’mores cookies. After voting for their favorite (a s’more glace by Aria’s Mei Schimizu was the top choice), they settled in for a more formal meal and the evening’s programming.

The Scouts honored eight of Las Vegas’ most high-profile women for their contributions to the organization and the community. Each received an honorary badge. This year’s honorees were: Debbie Creel (Think Big Badge), Dr. Souzan El-Eid (S.T.E.A.M. Advocate Badge), Nazanin Ford (Visionary Badge), Shelley Gitomer (Trailblazing Badge), Nancy Houssels (Ambassador of the Arts Badge), Trina Pascal (Philanthropist Badge), Sonja Saltman (Power of Community Badge) and Melinda Sheckells (Social Innovator Badge).
