One Enchanted Evening

Opera Las Vegas celebrated Cinderella’s Diamond Ball, its annual fundraiser, at the historic Liberace Mansion on Jan. 20. More than 200 people attended the gala, which raised $30,000 to support the company’s outreach programs, including Opera on Wheels and Opera With Class, which perform shows in Clark County schools, and major productions such as “Bravo, Bernstein!” at Myron’s Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center, and the Main Stage production of Rossini’s comic masterpiece “Cinderella” (“La Cenerentola”).

Opera Las Vegas’ General Director Jim Sohre was master of ceremonies at the event, which featured stars from June’s “Cinderella.” Renowned concert pianist Philip Fortenberry played piano solos as Liberace, and the cast of Strip show “The Cocktail Cabaret” performed. Also entertaining the crowd were the Opera Las Vegas Youth Chorus and four soloists from the Opera Las Vegas roster of Young Artists
