Nomad restaurant’s martini cart is a concoction of cocktail cool

It’s hard to improve on NoMad Restaurant’s stunning library-themed main dining room, which feels like a grown-up version of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” But the team adds some additional touches of elegance with various tableside services, including the signature martini cart.

Inspired by the carts of London’s Connaught Hotel and the Manhattan cart from New York’s Eleven Madison Park, the sleek, wheeled trolley contains all of the ingredients, garnishes and tools required to create a dozen different cocktails. Taken as a whole, the list of its offerings is a timeline marking the evolution of martini-style cocktails over the past 137 years.

The menu begins in 1882 with the Manhattan and progresses to 2018’s Mirepoix (dry vermouth, Cocchi Americano, fino sherry and carrot eau de vie, garnished with pickled celery, fennel and carrots). Your mixologist can guide you with a perfect recommendation to fit your mood: a Gibson if you want something oily, the Tuxedo #2 for something clean and crisp, or perhaps a Martinez to supply some richness and warmth. Each is crafted with impeccable style — with a dash of history on the side.
