Stylish Send-Offs – From traditional to trendy, local celebrities recall what they wore

One wore black. Another wore it twice. Yet another bought it on the way to the ceremony. Here’s what some local celebrities donned to say “I do.”

Sabina Kelley

International pinup model, actress and showgirl Sabina Kelley’s colors for her July 7, 2017 wedding to tattoo artist Nixx Snippets were black, gray and white — atypical for any wedding, especially a beach ceremony at Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort in Thailand. “I ended up buying a vintage 1950s, black silk, Charles James-style dress, then had it shipped to Australia to have it tailored by Venita Drennen to make it more of a 1940s look. We also lowered the back of the dress to show more of my tattoos.”

Marie Osmond

The Osmond family’s famous sister wore the same dress to marry the same man, Steven Craig, 29 years apart. “We ran into each other and he said, ‘Wow, it’s been a while,’ and I said, ‘Yeah, seven more kids since I last saw you.’ ” First wed in 1982, the two went to dinner, then renewed their romance, and were married a second time on May 4, 2011, at Las Vegas Mormon Temple. “I did wear the same dress,” Osmond says from the stage. “I couldn’t lift my arms, but I wore that sucker.”

Kelly Clinton-Holmes

Kelly Clinton and Clint Holmes exchanged vows at the home of fellow entertainers and friends Domenick Allen and Leigh Zimmerman on Nov. 11, 2007. The reception was at Bootlegger Bistro, where the couple had met years earlier during Clinton’s celebrity open-mic night. Clinton had picked out a dress months before but it never arrived — and the wedding was just days away. So Clinton went shopping with best friend Lena Prima, daughter of entertainment legend Louis Prima. Lena showed her a dress, “But I said, ‘No, that’s not me at all!’ ” Prima snuck the dress into a lineup of a dozen Clinton pulled to try on. “I put it on and said, ‘Oh, my God! This is the dress for me!’ ” Clinton says. “And Lena said, ‘That’s the first dress I showed you that you didn’t like!’ But it was perfect, and I got the long veil I’d always dreamed of, too.” The couple renewed their vows on the cruise ship Symphony of the Seas on Nov. 11, 2018. As they explained, it was the 11th day of the 11th month of their 11th year.

Emily Jillette

The Penn Jillette & Emily Zolten show played out at Viva Las Vegas wedding chapel on Nov. 23, 2004. She wore jeans and a white-lace shirt from Macy’s. She was also pregnant with daughter Moxie Crimefighter. “I picked the shirt because it was white and fit! Penn waited in the car while I ran into Macy’s. He had just picked me up from my dad, to whom I had revealed that I was 11 weeks pregnant. Penn had flowers in the car. Then we went to Boston Pizza for dinner and Olympic Garden to celebrate. Then we walked up and down the Strip pretending we were tourists and had Ghirardelli ice cream sundaes.”
